Cage Complete
Chris Schimmel of Competition Cages completed the cage a few weeks ago. Cameron Conover installed the Quaife differential and ring and pinion for the final drive and delivered the transaxle back to Chris’s. Kieran and I took the engine over after we had cleaned it up a bit, put in a new timing belt, underdrive pulley, plugs wires etc. Unfortunately we had a very small window in which to get everything put back together before I was scheduled for a Thailand vacation in the last two weeks of September.

With help from Anders Green and his father and a tremendous effort from Kevin Allen the task was almost completed on the day before my departure. Unfortunately although we managed to get it running (albeit a bit roughly) we had a real problem bleeding the new clutch slave cylinder; we had omitted to bench bleed it and there was a lot of air in the system. Upon my return from Thailand, Kieran and I tried again and, after discovering that the Max/Min lines in the reservoir was misleading, finally managed to get it done. On October 3rd we drove the Focus to Tom Landock in Kernersville for cage painting. Tom did a very quick job and we retrieved the car on Saturday, October 7th.
