LED Light Bars

Frequently
Asked
Questions

We hope this FAQ page will answer most of your questions, and even some you may not have considered. As always, you can contact us with any questions that you do have. Please send an email to info@usukracing.com and we will endeavor to respond as quickly as possible.

How much do they weigh?

The 10” bars weigh about 2.6 lbs. The 20” bars weigh about 4.8 lbs.

What is the light output?

We use 10 watt CREE LEDs each of which provides a minimum of 85 lumen. The 10” bars produce
a minimum of 5,100 lumen. The 20” bars produce a minimum of 10,200 lumen.

Will they make me faster?

Possibly. The graph here shows race speeds of AWD cars on day 1 at Rally West Virginia 2013.

We are car #3 and you can ignore stage 1 as we had an off and lost 31 minutes. But pay

attention to stages 5 and 6. They were both runs through a technical and challenging 23 mile

stage. The second time was in full dark and you can see that nearly every other car actually

slowed down on stage 6 compared to stage 5. We like to think our comparatively better

performance was due to our LED Light Bars.

What is the beam pattern?

Both LED Light Bars use a combination of euro-beam (E) and spot-beam (S) lenses. The 10”

    bar has 6 LEDs in an E E S S E E pattern. The 20” bar has 12 LEDs in an

    E S S S S S S S S S S E pattern.

What is included with each LED Light Bar?

The self-contained, sealed light bar, mounting brackets and hardware, wiring kit (switch, fuse

relay, wires), and documentation (wiring diagram, mounting guide).

Is there a warranty?

The LED Light Bar is warrantied from defects in manufacturing from a year. Should individual LED

lamps fail prematurely, replacement PCBs can be installed. Although the LED Light Bars are

robust, they are not warrantied against physical abuse or collision damage etc.

What about repairs?

In order to maintain the low cost of these LED Light Bars, we do not provide repair services at our

location. However, as indicated above, it is possible for a moderately skilled owner to replace the

LED component themselves should that prove necessary.

How much is shipping?

If you order through our PayPal ordering system then shipping costs (to destinations in the US) are
applied in a sliding scale based on the approximate weight of the unit(s) purchased and are shown
in the PayPal purchasing system. If you wish to pay by check (and save the PayPal fees) we will
calculate the exact cost of shipping to you by UPS ground service.

Do I have to use PayPal?

No, of course not. If you wish you can pay by check or cash. We will wait for any check to clear

before shipping out your LED Light Bar(s) but in return you will get a slightly lower price since

PayPal fees are avoided. Contact info@usukracing.com for details.

Can I return my light bar?

No, sorry. Our low price point doesn’t allow us to handle product returns.

How should I mount my LED Light Bar?

Pointing forwards? (Sorry, couldn’t resist). Each application will have its own mounting concerns

and issues and we do not provide final mounting instructions or hardware. The light bars will need

a fairly solid foundation so we do not recommend mounting them directly to a lightweight hood for

example. We do provide a description and diagram for a mounting bar similar to the one that we

fabricated for the USUK Racing Subaru Impreza.

Will it affect the airflow to my radiator or intercooler?

Good question. Again this will vary with each application. In our case on the Subaru a good

portion of the air comes in through the lower opening in the bumper but our frame seems open

enough to allow air flow too. I monitored coolant temp and noticed no change in normal stage

    operation.

What is the life expectancy of the LEDs?

Until you hit a tree or rock? Seriously though, the specifications say 50,000 hours or about 5.7

    years of continuous operation.

Are the lamps long range or wide angle?

We selected a combination of euro-beam (middle-ground illumination) and spot-beam (distance

illumination) for our LED Light Bars. We think this configuration is best suited for US stage rally

    competition.

How do they compare?

We took the USUK Racing rally car over to a dark stretch of road nearby to take some

comparative photographs of the LED Light Bars. It's very hard to make night shots come out right

but we tried to make sure they had equal exposures. The three pictures here show the same

stretch of road using the stock high beam lights, the 4,800 lumen 6 LED Light Bar and the 9,600

    lumen 12 LED Light Bar.
